The purpose of this study work is to give you the original Greek language words and definitions for all the key words in this selected Bible text. This work does not make any effort to interpret the text in question, though some interpretation may occur naturally as a result of the study. The English translation used is the King James (Authorized) Version, not because it is the best translation available, but because I just plain prefer it for study!
All Scripture text will be presented in normal cased lettering, and all notes within the text will be in TRUE TYPE FONT, as shown. This (I hope) will allow you to avoid confusion between God's Word and my notes. As I update this website, I will continue to embellish the text so that anyone using NETSCAPE or MSIE 3.0 or higher will be able to read the document easier. Greek tenses are abbreviated as follows:

Doctrine of the Apostle 1. The Apostle (APOSTOLOS) was a military term used for the Athenian admiral who was sent to direct the fleet. This was used in the New Testament to signify the highest spiritual gift and office in the Church Age. There is evidence the office expired after 96 AD (1 Cor 12.11, 28; Eph 4.11) 2. The Apostle directed the Church prior to the completion of the Biblical canon (from AD 30-96) 3. The function of the Apostle: (1) Wrote Scripture as guided by God the Holy Spirit4. Those elected to be Apostles were elected by Christ (Eph 4.8, 11). Only men filled the office. 5. Paul was appointed the 12th Apostle, replacing Judas Iscariot (1 Cor 15.7-10). Matthias was elected an Apostle by ballot (Acts 1 Eph 4.11), but was never mentioned again in Scripture. This leads us to believe that this appointment was not condoned by God. 6. The Apostle had to have seen the risen Saviour (Acts 1.22; 1 Cor 9.1; 15.8-9). 7. The Apostle was identified with healing and other miraculous events (Acts 5.15; 16.16; 28.8-9) 8. The roster of the Apostles prior to Paul: Matthew 10:2-4 "Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him." 9. Apostles could delegate their authority: (1) Though Barnabas was not an Apostle, he possessed their given authority (Acts 14.14; Gal 2.9) |

Doctrine of Covenants 1. All Biblical Covenants are made between God and man, with God favoring man because of Grace. 2. Covenant is the Hebrew BERITH and the Greek DIATHEKE. Both words are used in instances where God is the primary functionary in completing the Covenant. 3. Each dispensation of time contains at least one Covenant from God: (1) Age of the Gentiles contained Adamic and Noahic Covenants4. Many Covenants pointed to the fact of the Coming Saviour, Jesus Christ. (1) Adamic Covenant (Gen 2.15; 3.15) promised Messiah would come through the seed of the woman.5. Mosaic Covenant was never given to Gentiles or the Church (Exo 19.3; Lev 26.46; Ro 3.19; 9.4) (1) Covenant was divided into :(a) The Ten Commandments, the basis of the Law(2) Christ kept the Law perfectly, fulfilled the Law, and was the end of the Law for Church Age believers (Mat 5.17; Ro 10.4) |
1 Timothy 1:9

to sound doctrine;
| Translator's Remarks: To those Christians who insist that, in order to remain saved, "I must keep the Law", I offer verses 9-10 as absolute proof of the falsity of your position. These verses clearly state that the Law (NOMOS) is only for the godless heathen, not for the believer in Christ. |

Doctrine of Murder 1. The devil was the first murderer (Jo 8.44), and motivated Cain to kill his brother Abel (1 Jo 3.12) 2. Murder starts in the heart, then is expressed outwardly by taking life (Gen 4.5; Rom 1.29; Gal 5.21) 3. Murder is specifically against God's Laws. "Thou shalt not kill" is mistranslated. The Kal Imperfect of RATSACH should be translated "Thou shalt not do murder" (Exo 20.13; Deu 5.17; Mat 5.21) 4. God specifically demanded that Capital Punishment be exercised on murderers (Gen 9.6; Num 35.30-31; Rom 13.4). Though the Mosaic Law has no hold on the Christian, it is specifically designed for the godless (see verses 9-10 above) that commit murder. Murder is punishable by death. Matthew 26:51-52 "And, behold, one of them
which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck
a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear.
5. Murder is one of the seven "deadly sins" (Prov 6.16-19). 6. Should someone who accepted Jesus Christ as Saviour on death row be pardoned from Capital Punishment? Would a newly converted true believer even ask this? Let me ask another question: If you sleep around and contract AIDS as a result, then later become a Christian, will the effects of AIDS suddenly be removed? The sins we commit prior to salvation may cause scarring that carry forward into our new life in Christ. This is truth, reality, regardless as to the liberal wish. A true, new believer on death row would face death trusting that God would be waiting for them on the other side. |
