Philippians 2:10-11 Christ Our Lord Deserves Worship

Philippians 2:10

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow<14>, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

Because Jesus fulfilled the Plan of God by humbling Himself, a day is coming where everyone; angels, the Saints in Heaven, people living on earth, the Satanic hosts and lost humanity in Hell; will all bow (<14> kampto {pronounced kamp’-to}, Aorist Active Subjunctive, should bow in worship) their knees and recognize Christ's preeminence. This teaching is also born out in:

Isaiah 45:22-23 "Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. [23]  I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear."

Romans 14:11-12 "For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. [12]  So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God."

Revelation 5:13-14 "And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. [14]  And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever."

The Godhead has determined that Christ will be bowed to, worshipped, and adored in eternity. Those who teach the nonsense that Jesus was mere man are totally out of sync with the teaching of Scripture. Christ was worshipped, and received worship, many times in His earthly ministry. Christ as very God, God the Son, must be worshipped in eternity.

Those who came to see the Baby Jesus knew Him to be God Incarnate, for they wanted to worship Him. Matthew 2:2 "Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him."

Matthew 2:10-11 "When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

Jesus was worshipped many times in His earthly ministry. Matthew 8:2-3 "And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed."

Matthew 9:18-19 "While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples."

Matthew 14:33 "Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God."

Matthew 15:25-28 "Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour."

Matthew 28:9 "And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him."

Matthew 28:17-18 " And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth."

Mark 5:6-8 "But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.

Luke 24:52-53 "And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy: And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen."

John 9:38-39 "And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him. And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind. "

The word translated "worshipped" in the Authorized Version is the Greek PROSKUNEO, which translated means "To prostrate ones self in homage, to do reverence to". The same Greek word was used in reference to God in Matthew 4.10 in the phrase "You shall worship God alone.." The same Greek word was used in reference to Christ, and Christ received this same worship as God. Which proves that, in His mind, Christ was equal in substance to God the Father. So this leaves us with two options: Either Christ was and is fully God, equal to the Father, or else He was mentally imbalanced and a heretic. There are no other options open to us, He did not leave any!

Philippians 2:11

And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
