eternal security
|
By
accepting the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ,
the finished work of the Cross, man is saved (John 3.16).
You can not earn your salvation, but once you are truely
saved by faith in Christ you are eternally secure.
We
do not debate Arminian and Calvinistic doctrine, nor post
articles that engage in such debates. The Church has been
divided on these two positions for a thousand years, and we
have yet to read a "new" article that thouroughly teaches
one or the other of these positions. We do post works from
both theologies for, in our opinion, the Scripture teaches
both "Whosoever Will" as well as "Election of God". Those
who disagree are free to do so. You are still loved!
You
will see studies and sermons posted by John Calvin, John Wesley,
Martin Luther, Methodists, Baptists, Congregationalists, Presbyterians
.... by all denominations of Christ's mighty Church, as long
as that particular article is Sola Scriptura. Though
we may not agree with every doctrine that a particular denomination
teaches, we do not throw out the baby with the bathwater.
We expect every Christian to refer to the Holy Scriptures
as they use the studies posted at this site as a guide,
and to maintain the Christian attitude of Sola Scriptura,
Sola Scriptura, Sola Scriptura!
We
believe that Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to God, the ONLY
way to be saved, and the ONLY way to peace with God. He Himself
said: (John 14:6 KJV) "Jesus saith
unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh
unto the Father, but by me." Those
who believe that there are "other ways" to God need
not write us and rant and rave. We do not care whether we
hurt your feelings or not - you are damned for all eternity
if you do not accept Jesus Christ as your Savior. We are not
here to be politically correct, but exist to show you
that Jesus MUST be the only Way to God - or else He stands
convicted by His own words as a liar or a lunatic. Jesus did
not leave us a fence to sit on - He alone is the Savior of
the world, which makes all other so called saviors deceivers.
We
reject the doctrine of Baptismal Regeneration, or the teaching
that any work that we can do can earn our salvation.
As The Scripture teaches: (Ephesians
2:8-9 KJV) "For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: {9} Not
of works, lest any man should boast." |
|
the Holy Bible
|
|
The
Bible is God's infallible, immutable, and perfect Word handed
down to man. There are no other "testaments" of Jesus Christ,
no other word of prophecy, no other works like the Holy
Scriptures. The Scriptures are free from error in their
Autographa, the original languages of the Scripture.
We
therefore reject all teachings that originate from
the pseudo or extant writings like the "Lost Books of the
Bible" or the "Apocrypha", though such works.
We
reject all teachings or studies that are not Sola Scriptura,
that is, teachings based on assumption but not the commonly
accepted Canonized Scriptures. Though certain teachings
such as the "Gap Theory" have gained popularity among certain
segments of Christianity, these teachings are largely assumptive,
not Sola Scriptura, and will not be published here.
When we are fully convinced, per the Scripture, that this
Gap Theory is correct, we will publish it - but we're still
waiting for clear, non-twisted teaching on the subject -
though we do respect the work that Brother Scofield did
for our Lord Jesus.
We
base our perception of life on the Scripture, not
on what is currently the accepted fad, politically correct,
or one group's perception of "love". If the Scripture clearly
forbids or prescribes a certain action for the Church
Age, then we accept the teaching of Scripture without
debate. Your actions do not validate something as acceptable,
only the Canon of the Scripture can do that. If your actions,
be they adulterous or homosexual, drug or alcohol induced,
are rejected as sin by the Scripture then we stand on
this along with the Holy Text.
Though
the author and owner of this site (Pastor David Buffaloe)
preaches and teaches from the King James Version (1789)
of the Scripture, he sometimes quotes from and uses other
translations of the Scripture in preaching and teaching.
We do not reject non-KJV translations of the Scripture as
"unBiblical", though we do reject extreme "thought
for thought" translations such as Peterson's "The
Message", the "Living Bible", the "Purified
Version", etc. We will not debate this issue with the
"1611 King James Only" crowd until they produce
a 1611 King James Bible and preach from it. Pastor Buffaloe
owns one, and is one of the three people in this area of
Tennessee who actually has a copy!

church of Jesus
Christ
|
|
We
reject all forms of the hyper movements that have
invaded Christendom. We especially reject teachings that
negate portions of Scripture as irrelevant to the Church
Age. In other words, if you only accept doctrinal truths
from the Pauline Epistles (Romans through Philemon), then
you will NOT be pleased with the teachings found at this
site. Positions that theologically negate portions of Scripture
of heretical - for such doctrinal positions do not accept
the full counsel of God. The Bible teaches: (2 Timothy 3:16
KJV) "ALL SCRIPTURE is given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction,
for instruction in righteousness". We believe that
ALL SCRIPTURE means ALL.
We
reject heretical teachings proposed by cults that teach
that Paul was the only Apostle to the Church, and
that the Church did not form until Acts 9, Acts 18, or Acts
22. Heretical teachings such as this are divisive to the
Word of God, and serve no function other than to promote
a "better than you" attitude within the cult that
propounds them.
We believe that God has revealed His will to mankind in
progressive stages through the different periods of history.
These historical periods are called dispensations. In each
dispensation God called upon mankind to believe in Him and
to obey His Word. In each dispensation people were saved
by grace through faith in God's promises. The content of
God's revelation, however, has progressively expanded in
each dispensation (Eph. 1:10, 3:1-12;
Col. 1:24-27; Heb. 1:1-2; John 1:17). We further
believe that the promises that God made to the nation of
Israel in the Old Testament will be literally fulfilled
to Israel in the future Kingdom. We reject both covenant
theology (such as teaching which equates the New Testament
Church with Old Testament Israel) and
hyperdispensationalism (such as teaching which rejects
water baptism and/or the Lord's Supper as ordinances for
the Church today).
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ commanded His Church
to observe two ordinances. These ordinances do not bring
salvation to those who participate in them. We are saved
by the grace of God through faith alone. We do believe,
however, that these ordinances are an important part of
the Christian life.
The
first ordinance is water baptism (Matt.
28:19). Baptism is the outward expression and
testimony of faith in Christ and symbolizes the believer's
baptism by the Holy Spirit into one body of Christ (Rom.
6:3-4; 1 Cor. 12:13). Baptism is to be administered
by immersion to believers in Jesus Christ.
The
second ordinance is the Lord's Supper or communion. The
bread and "fruit of the vine" used in the
communion service are symbols of the body and blood
of Christ and serve as reminders to us of His death
for our sins (Matt. 26:26-29;
1 Cor. 11:23-26).
The Church, which is the body and the bride of Christ (Eph.
1:22-23, 5:22-23; 2 Cor. 11:2), is a spiritual organism
made up of all born again persons of this present age. The
Church Age began on and was empowered by the Holy Spirit
the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2,
11:15-17) and will be concluded at the rapture of
the Church (1 Thess. 4:13-18)
at which time the spiritual building will be complete (Eph.
2:20-22; 1 Pet. 2:4-7; Rom. 11:25). Jesus Christ
is the Head of the universal Church and of our local church
(Col. 1:18). We are members
of Christ and members of each other (Rom.
12:5). Therefore, we seek to exalt Christ in every
ministry and activity of our church, and we are to preserve
the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace (Eph.
4:1-3; Col. 3:12-17). False teaching and division
are to be handled by church discipline (Rom.
16:17; 1 Cor. 1:10). As believers we are to love
each other fervently (Eph. 5:1-4;
Rom. 14:13-23; 1 John 3:14).
We believe that the second coming of Jesus Christ will take
place in two phases. The first phase will be personal (1
Thess. 4:13-18), imminent (1
Cor. 15:51-52; Titus 2:13; Rev. 22:20), and pre-tribulational
(Rev. 3:10; 1 Thess. 1:10, 5:9-11)
coming of the Lord Jesus for His Church. The rapture of
the Church is the believer's confident hope. The rapture
will be followed by the tribulation period, a period of
seven years, during which God pours out His wrath on sinful
men (Rev. 4-19). The second
phase of Christ's coming will take place at the end of the
tribulation period when Christ will return to the earth
with His saints to establish His Kingdom (Zech.
14:4-11; Rev. 19:11-16, 20:1-6; 2 Thess. 1:7-10; Matt. 24:29-31,
36-51)

operational Christianity
|
|
We
believe that the Christian life should be a life of joy
and peace and obedience to the Lord who saved us. The believer
is free to be guided by the Holy Spirit and the Word of
God and is not bound by the Old Testament Law or the rules
of legalists (Gal. 5:1, 25).
This liberty in Christ, however, is not to be used as an
excuse for sin (Rom. 13:13-14; 6:1-13;
Gal. 5:13). The grace of God teaches us that we should
deny ungodliness and worldly desires and should live sensible,
righteous, and godly lives (Titus
2:11-13). Saved people should live in such a way
that they do not bring reproach to the name of Christ. Separation
from religious apostasy and compromise, from sinful and
worldly practices, and from unscriptural associations is
clearly commanded in God's Word (2
Tim. 3:1-5; 1 John 2:15-17; 2 John 9-11; 2 Cor. 6:14-7:1).
If a person is truly saved, he should manifest a life of
constant obedience to the Word of God (1
John 2:3-5), a fervent love for other believers (1
John 3:14-19; 4:7, 20) and a daily walk that is characterized
by righteousness and Christ-likeness (Gal.
5:22-23; 1 John 2:29; 3:10). To quote the Christian
group DC Talk, "the greatest
single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians,
who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and walk out the door
and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving
world simply finds unbelievable" (DC Talk, Jesus
Freak, Track 4). Christians MUST live like CHRISTians, else
what benefit is our faith?

eternity
|
At
death, the believer goes immediately to be with Christ
(Phil. 1:21-23). He is absent from the body but
face to face with the Lord (2 Cor.
5:6-8). There, in conscious joy, the believer awaits
the first resurrection (1 Cor. 15:51-52;
1 Thess. 4:13-18; Rev. 20:4-6) when he will be
reunited with his resurrected body, to be glorified forever
with the Lord. At death, unbelievers go to be in conscious
misery (Luke 16:19-26) until
the second resurrection when they shall be reunited with
their resurrected bodies to appear before Christ at the
Great White Throne Judgment (Rev.
20:15). They will not be annihilated but will suffer
everlasting conscious punishment under the wrath of God
(Matt. 25:41-46; 2 Thess. 1:7-9; Jude 6-7; Mark 9:43-48).
When
an unbeliever leaves this life that person does not cease
to exist, but is held in a place of torment until the Great
White Throne Judgment. Following that Judgment the unbeliever
is cast into the Lake of Fire, a place of eternal punishment
without annihilation. A complete teaching on the
Doctrine of Hell can be found by clicking
here.
We
will not post articles that teach Hell is a place of annihilation.
Our Lord Jesus taught otherwise, and He is not the Author
of confusion!
We
will not post articles that teach there is a second chance
to accept Christ after death. Again, this is presumption,
but not something taught in Scripture. As the Apostles preached:
(2 Corinthians 6:1-2 KJV) "We then, as workers together
with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace
of God in vain. {2} (For he saith, I have heard thee in
a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured
thee: behold, NOW is the accepted time; behold, NOW is the
day of salvation.)" If I were you, I'd not wait
until after death, hoping I could accept Christ as Savior.
Don't bet on that horse, for you're sure to lose!

who is God?
|
God
is holy, pure, without sin, the Creator of all, and Triune
in Being. He is Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. He is omnipotent,
omnipresent, and omniscient. We reject the teachings of
the Projectionists, and the Christian
Monotheists (modalists/ Sabellianism/ Oneness Pentecostalism)
... and will not post studies from this branch of Christianity.
Though
we love all for whom Christ died, we also reject the
teachings of groups that cannot be validated Sola
Scriptura. This includes, but is not limited to,
the teachings of groups considered heretical by conservative
Christianity (Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses, The Way,
The Adventists, Ba'Hai, Krishna). We also reject the
teachings of any groups that emphasize ritual over reality,
such as Catholicism. By rejecting these teachings we
are not making a determination as to whether
you are saved or not - only the Father can do that -
but we do take the stand that "God
is not the Author of Confusion" (1 Corinthians 14:33).
With so many voices crying so many "truths", we find
it safer to abide in the clear teachings of the Scripture
and the simplicity that is Christ.
Jesus
Christ is equal to and perfectly in tune with both the Father
and the Holy Ghost. All three Persons of the Trinity are
God.
Christ
established by decree the Church on earth. No one Church
denomination has an exclusive right to the Pearly Gates
and salvation. Denomination is a man-made concept
divorced from God's Word. Anyone who rejects Christ as Savior,
whether they be minister, deacon, charter member, or any
denomination affiliation, can expect to see eternal damnation
after they leave this life.
We
not only post articles from all denominations
of Chrstianity, as long as they are Sola Scriptura,
we post articles from all races of Christians.
Consider the publisher of this site neutral in color,
or red - washed by the
blood of Jesus!
There
are many other things we hold to be Biblically true, but
if you read and can tolerate (if not accept) these initial
doctrinal statements, then we can safely (and without argument)
continue this Bible study series. Nothing at this site
is written with hatred or division in mind, but is written
to help others seek out and understand the God we worship
through Christ Jesus. The Southern Baptist Convention
"Faith and Message" (which
is, in our opinion, a very conservative and Biblical creedal
statement) will give you an overall view of what this Ministry
doctrinally supports, though in religious liberty we explore
the entirety of scriptural teaching. You may think that
we are rather close-minded about the above points, and I
guess, you are right. When you base your faith on the strictest
teachings of the Word of God, anything less than close-mindedness
in the basic necessities is hypocrisy. As the Bible says:
Ephesians
4:11-16 "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets;
and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the
ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till
we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge
of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure
of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth
be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about
with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men,
and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into
him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From
whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted
by that which every joint supplieth, according to the
effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh
increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love."
That's
what this Ministry is about, Christian Growth and Love.
We hope that by using this Ministry you will grow in stability
and faith so that you might better serve your Heavenly
Father. This Ministry is supported by God, and we accept
no monetary donations: it's not about money. What you
gain here is understanding of God's precious Word and
(we hope) a more stable Christ view of life.
