Introduction : It is very nice to meet you all after a long time . Let us bow down our hearts and pray that Lord will lead us into the eternal truth in the topic which we are going to discuss, "Anointing With the Holy Spirit". Heavenly Father thank you Lord for enabling us to learn about the Word of God. Here we gathered to learn about the the Holy Spirit. Allow us to know the truth. Keep us away from false teachings. In Lord Jesus Christ name we pray. Amen. By the Grace of God we are able to discuss various topics now and then About the the Holy Spirit under the title "Blessed Timings with the Holy Spirit". Recently I posted two messages on the web that is about the "The work of the the Holy Spirit" in Acts 2 and "In Samaria" from Acts 8. We didn't posted as weekly Bible studies because most of the content we already discussed under "Sealing With the the Holy Spirit", In depth Study of the the Holy Spirit (which is a small study taken from http://www.thekkel.com/) . Here we are now going to discuss about anointing with the the Holy Spirit. Before going into the in-depth study. Let us have look at dictionary meaning of the words Sealing, Baptism, Filling and anointment. Suppose you are thinking one and all together, Peel it out and understand the sweetness of the terms. Bible never uses wrong vocabulary. Sealing : To affix a seal to in order to
prove authenticity or attest to accuracy, legal weight, quality, or another
standard. Baptism: Immerse Filling : To fill (Opposite action of Baptism where
are Baptism is immerse Filling is to fill) Difference between Baptism and Filling Suppose if you place a wood piece
in a glass of WATER. Then wood piece is
baptized into water. And the glass
is filled with wood ( To add a foreign substance. ) Is a dictionary meaning.
Once again I am telling you, Bible uses correct vocabulary. The person
who says that Baptism with the Holy Spirit and Filling With the Holy Spirit
is Against the Dictionary Vocabulary and Biblical Vocabulary. Meaning of Anointment: To apply
oil, ointment, or a similar substance to.
Anointment with the Holy Spirit is completely different from the Baptism With
the Holy Spirit, Sealing with
the Holy Spirit and Filling
With the Holy Spirit. People are very much confused between
the Baptism, Anointing and the Filling. They inter use every time what
ever way they want or/and when ever they want. Especially they use
book of Acts for their support. Even careless reading through Acts doesn't’t
put you into confusion about the terms. Be careful about your vocabulary.
Let us learn the dictionary meaning of each term and let us understand
the difference between them. Then we will press on to the Bible which
is more perfect and clear than what we have as tools. Christ is the Anointed One: Christ means "Anointed
One". [Our] Lord Jesus Christ said in Luke 4:18,19 "The
Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To
preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to
heal the brokenhearted, To
proclaim liberty to the captives And
recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty
those who are oppressed, To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord." Here Jesus does not announce
promises, but their fulfillment in Grace by His own presence.
(He appointed me to ...) The
Spirit is upon this man, full of Grace; and the God of Grace in Him manifests
His goodness. The time of deliverance is come; the vessel of His favor
to Israel is there in their midst. Every thing mentioned in this
verse is fulfilled by the Lord Jesus Christ. God anointed only one Person
i.e. Jesus Christ. Now Jesus want you and me to be partakers of
this anointing which He received from God. How it is possible to be HIS
Partakers in His anointing It is Poured on Aaron's Head: "..Anointing oil that was poured
over Aaron's head" Psalm 133:2.(Read Exodus 28:7) According
to Ephesians 5:23 Christ is the head of His Body, the church. God
wants you and me as a members of the Church. The church here is a universal
church. Which is established on earth on the day of Pentecost. And Samaritans
[were] baptized into this universal church (the body of Jesus Christ).
Now Jesus asking you and me to be part of HIS Body. Are You? If
not please accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and be born again
. If you do so you are in HIS Body. It ran down his beard and onto the border: Now the oil which is poured on
Aaron's head (Psalm 133:2) that ran down his beard and onto the
border of his robe (Psalm 133:3). That means it is flowing into the body.
What does it mean. The body or the part of the body cannot be anointed
apart from Head because the anointment is poured on Head, not on the body
or part of Body. But the oil which is poured on head is flowing unto boarder
of Robes. You will be anointed only if u are part of Body. What
does it practically means to me. Unless you [are] born again (become part
of his body, [i.e.] Spiritual birth) you won't receive the anointing of
the Holy Spirit. This is the first basic requirement for anointment. By
become a member in in God's body you will become partaker of His anointing. Individual Responsibility In Receiving : The oil is running from head
to border of robe. In between you are there as a part of member in HIS
body. What is your responsibility in receiving/allowing the oil
for a smooth flow. To sense the flow of oil through you. You must be clean.
( Exodus 29:21).Otherwise you wont sense the sooth of oil. Oil
is not like fire or like a wind. It is so pleasant. So, in order to receive/sense
the presence of anointing which is flowing through you, cleanse your self
by the blood of Jesus Christ and allow the Holy Spirit to bear fruits
by removing your selfish fruits. The fire burns out the fleshy nature
in you. Where as Oil cleans the burn out mark (no more patch or guiltiness). It must never be poured on the body: God command it should not be poured upon the body (Exodus
30:32). What does it mean?. It means that it has to flow from
Head to the body, not directly poured on Body. Many want to receive anointing
with out being part of body and directly on them (body/flesh). It is not
Biblical. Even anointed person should not anoint another person who is
not in body (not born
again). If any anointed person puts any of it on someone who is not a
priest (we are made priests the day we accepted Jesus Christ 1
Peter 2:4), He is thrown out of his community. Bible
Says "Anyone who blends scented oil like
it or puts any of it on someone who is not a priest will be cut off from
the community.'"(Exodus 30:33). So, stay attach to the Body of
Christ, allow the oil which is already running from the the Aaron's head
(Christ ) to the border of robe into your life. For this why you are struggling
with various rituals placed by you and your well wishers. I know you are
a little children of God (that ye sin not, because your sins are forgiven
you for His name's sake, because ye have known the Father) not an youth
in Christ or elder in Christ (It is great joy for me if you are so). Who ever it may be (little children,
youth or elder), ye have an unction from the the Holy One (1 John 2:20). Praise be to God! If you are
in Christ [then] anointing Oil is flowing through body. Allow this
oil (anointment) flow through you with out any hindrance. That's all.
There are false teachers. They are not some where in Jehovah witness or
church of Christ. They went out from us, but they were
not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have
continued with us: but they went out, that they might be
made manifest that they were not all of us. (1 John 2:19). Where you are you now?. Are you
struggling some where with modern teachings . Come back and continue with
us (Body of Christ). (1 John 2:19). So decide to day? How [do] you
want to be anointed? Want to be partakers of the anointing which is already
flowing from the Christ (which is head to the bottom) through out his
body. Or you want to stay outside the body and ask "Pour anointing
on flesh"? Choose the Godly way, which is mentioned in the Word of
God. Otherwise you are cast out of community (" Congregation of the
believers") (Exodus 30:33) Jesus Anointed With the Holy Spirit: Now let us see how God testified
about the anointment of Jesus on the day of His baptism by John the Baptist. Reading Portion : "and the the Holy Spirit descended on Him in a physical appearance
like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: You are My beloved Son. I take
delight in You!" (Luke 3:22) ."The
Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for He has appointed me to preach Good
News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released,
that the blind will see, that the downtrodden will be freed from their
oppressors," (Luke 4:18). From these verses we see that
Lord was anointed when He came out of the water at the Jordan River.
At the time of Christ's baptism, He received the anointing of the the
Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit descended upon Him like a dove. This signifies
that at the time of Christ's baptism, He received the anointing of the
the Holy Spirit. In
the times of Noah's : Genesis chapters 6,7, 8 records
story of flood. 5 And God did not
spare the ancient world – except for Noah and his family of seven. Noah
warned the world of God's righteous judgment. Then God destroyed the whole
world of ungodly people with a vast flood (2 Peter 2:5). those who disobeyed
God long ago when God waited patiently while Noah was building his boat.
Only eight people were saved from drowning in that terrible flood. (1
Peter 3:20). The boat, the flood and
the way Noah's family talks about the Baptism, and this is a picture
of Baptism (1 Peter 3:21). And after the floods Noah opened the window
of the ark and sent out a dove. However, the dove could not find any place
to rest because the whole earth was filled with water, and it returned
back. After some time He sends the dove again. It doesn't came back since
it found a place. The passage of Noah through the deluge is a type of
Baptism. Back
to Jordan: When Jesus came out of water. The dove came down
and God testified that "He is my beloved son, and I am delighting in HIM"
(Luke 3:22). Here we can see the God the Trinity in action. Jesus the
Son was baptized, the Holy Spirit the God descended in a physical appearance
like dove, and God the Father spoke from Heaven. Relation between Baptism and Anointing : Baptism signifies that every
thing is old, natural man is buried. For the anointing to come after baptism
means that in order for us to receive the anointing of the the Holy Spirit
our flesh must be buried. When we are baptized in Christ, we pass through
death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Hence, when He was anointed,
we also anointed. Now we are crucified buried , resurrected and anointed
together with HIM. Practical Lesson In the life of a believer: Observe carefully and let us
apply this portion to our day to day life. The day when you are born of
HIS Spirit, you are identified with Christ. "For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And
just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father,
now we also may live new lives." (Romans 6:4). Now we are living
in Him, so we have to live a pure life. (Romans 7). Christ lives within
you, even though your body will die because of sin, your spirit is alive
(Romans 8:10).Now the Spirit in US testifies us that We are HIS Children
by enabling us calling him "Father, dear Father." (Romans 8:14 ). Is it not true in your life.
Now allow the anointing of the Holy Spirit abundantly in you in every
activity you are doing. May God bless you with HIS Riches.. Anointing Which makes the Baptism Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians
12:1&2. "And now, dear brothers and sisters, I will write about
the special abilities the Holy Spirit gives to each of us, for I must
correct your misunderstandings about them. You know that when you were
still pagans you were led astray and swept along in worshiping speechless
idols". When I am writing these articles on the Holy Spirit I have
a desire that our beloved readers in Bible-Studies,
cBiblestudies and e-groups and bibleteacher.org
members should be well know about the the Holy Spirit. Because of the
same I started Bible studies 3 years before. My desire is to teach the
Word of God in a clear way. I request each members of these groups
pray for me. We
are all baptized into the Body (1 Corinthians 12:13). This happens
at the time of accepting Jesus Christ. We are all
made to drink of one Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:13). There is no difference between Greeks, whether slaves or Jews(1
Corinthians 12:13)
Work of Anointing in the Baptism of Body: (Colossians
2:18, 19) Baptism into
body by the the Holy Spirit shows us that we are one in spirit to exercise
this "Here is a list of some of the members that God has placed
in the body of Christ: first are apostles, second are prophets, third
are teachers, then those who do miracles, those who have the gift of healing,
those who can help others, those who can get others to work together,
those who speak in unknown languages." ( 1 Corinthians 12:28).
Observe carefully the following verse "..They are not connected
to Christ, the head of the body. For we are joined together
in his body by his strong sinews, and we grow only as we get our nourishment
and strength from God.". The text in blue we already discussed.
No we are joined together in His body by His strong sinews. We saw in
1 Corinthians chapter 12 that Paul explained about ear, hand eyes etc.,
And compared them with apostles, prophets..... now here we see that these
are joined together by his Strong sinews. Strong sinews are not visible
to out side world and they are not exposed . Even if you see they are
covered with skin. But they have wonderful ministry inside the body. The
work of sinews is the anointing What a wonderful privilege sinews have. Sinews brings the information along with life from the head to the all parts of the body (legs, ears, hands etc.). In the same way the Spiritual body has sinews which are inside brings the anointing of the the Holy Spirit which is poured on the head to all parts of the Body. Where ever anointing with the Holy Spirit is there, there the Unity is there. Allow the anointing of the Holy Spirit in your Life. Introduction : Since
few weeks we are studying about anointing with the Holy Spirit. All these
studies you can review at "Partakers
in anointing with the Holy Spirit". Today we can see how the anointing
with the Holy Spirit helps us in harmony Unity in our fellowships, churches
and in our families. Classic Example: Let us look into the life of King David. In his life there is a disharmony. This is because of his family members, Ammon, Abshalom, and Adoniza. Having disharmony in our lives and families brings bitterness in our lives. It takes away our peace. David expresses here the sweetness in harmony among brethren. "How pleasant when brothers live in harmony" Psalm 133:1.
In the same way we need harmony in our lives, in our assembly and in our
fellowships. Satan brings disharmony in our lives. Whenever Satan brings
harmony we should not allow our desire and to fulfill our desires to execute
to overcome the situation. But we have to execute Gods will. This
has to be executed in all areas of our Life. Anointing Settles your disagreement : "And now I want to plead
with those two women, Euodia and Syntyche. Please, because you belong
to the Lord, settle your disagreement." (Philippians
4:2) In well established and living assembly Philippi there are
two sisters. Their names are Euodia and Syntyche (Phil 4:2). They both belong to God (Phil 4:2), but they have
disagreement (Phil 4:2). Underline the terms. They both belong to God
means they are baptized into Spirit. They are in HIS body. That in turn
means they drank the same Spirit. But they have disagreement. That means
they have different opinions. Opinions comes from mind i.e. in turn is
of from Soul. You see they both have same spirit but of difference in
Soul. What is the Solution for this
: Very easy to tell but practically very different to implement. The solution
is from apostle Paul. Renew your minds. Listen carefully who and all baptized
into Christ will be in heaven but they may have different opinions until
they are in this world. "As
much as possible we have to be in Peace with all men" (Romans
12:18). "Leave your sacrifice there beside
the altar. Go and reconcile to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice"
(Matthew 5:23,14). Live Apart! So that no strife, for we were brethren : God called Abraham
from heathen. Lot came along with him. God blessed both of them. Their
stocks are increased. Now it is time for them to stay apart. See what
Abraham is saying " And Abram said unto Lot,
Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between
my herdsmen and thy herdsmen; for we be brethren. I'll tell you what we'll
do. Take your choice of any section of the land you want, and we will
separate. If you want that area over there, then I'll stay here. If you
want to stay in this area, then I'll move on to another place."
Genesis 13:8,9. They both separated because there should be no strife. Separate them for the Fulfillment of Gospel: Apostle Paul and Barnabas are in
Antioch. Now the Holy Spirit wants to separate them. See the whole work
of the Holy Spirit. God called Apostle Paul with a purpose. Same God called
Barnabas with different purpose. According to God's sovereignty these
purposes won't fulfill until they stay together. Now read Acts 13:1-3.
Among the prophets and teachers of the church at Antioch of Syria were
Barnabas, Simeon (called "the black man" ), Lucius (from Cyrene), Manaen
(the childhood companion of King Herod Antipas ), and Saul. One day as
these men were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the the Holy Spirit said,
"Dedicate Barnabas and Saul for the special work I have for them." So
after more fasting and prayer, the men laid their hands on them and sent
them on their way. (Acts 13:1-3) See the anointing work of the
the Holy Spirit. If that doesn't exist for sure there is some mismatch
in opinions will arise. Laying
of hands on them shows here the agreement of elders to
sent them on their way. If some thing happens to the body of Christ tomorrow
because of the separation of Apostle Paul and Barnabas all who participate
here in Antioch are responsible. Are you responsible for the decisions
your assembly make? Are you partaker in the anointing with the the Holy
Spirit? Be agree with the decisions taken by your Local assembly. God
bless you. We have the mind of Christ For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.. Listen carefully Apostle Paul is saying that we have the mind of Christ. Is it true 100% true?. If it so How ? Did you realized that truth? Let us try to understand this. The day we baptized into the body of Christ we are part of his body. The head to this body is the Christ. Head must have a mind which is defiled by world. And this mind is powerful, and "his understanding is infinite" ( Psalm 145:7). "In whom ( Christ ) are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge."(Colossians 2:3). If you realize this truth you won't use your mind. What we have to do is we have to transform by renewing our mind. "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." (Romans 12:2). First of all previously you do want to good. But there is no power to over come bad to do the good. If you renewed your mind you can be able to overcoming the evil taught and bad things is a cake walk. ... acceptable, and perfect, will of God. : Previously your petitions and your supplications are not accepted by God since they are born out of your will, where as now these petitions are not coming out of our will but they are coming from the mind which was renewed by the Holy spirit. The Holy Spirit searcheth our hearts and he maketh intercession (so they become acceptable and perfect) for the saints according to the will of God (Romans 12:27), How to experience in day to day life: We as a part of body in Christ has to consult the mind (head - Christ) before taking decision. He will reply to us through the nerves and veins (because they are channels of anointment), which is nourishment for us to increase in the Lord (please read Colossians 2:19). Consulting the mind is called supplication, prayer etc.,, for this the Holy spirit will help us how to pray (Romans ). He will reply to us means the anointing is flowing into us. This we have to experience in every moment to moment. This is functionality of anointing with the Holy Spirit. Anointing with the Holy Spirit is not a one time action as Baptism with the Holy Spirit or one time action as Sealing with the Holy Spirit . It is Gods presence moment by moment. Even you walk! Even you sleep, Even you are spending 1 Rupee you have to consult the head and listen to what your Mind (Christ ) says . Renewing our minds : At the same time renew your mind (have defiled with old nature ) with the mind of Christ. So that your decisions which are taken are acceptable, perfect, will of God. Why we have to renew our minds is to have constant and smooth fellowship with Christ. If you don't renew your mind with the mind of Christ you will see lot of conflict and inner struggles in your life. Yes if you start transforming your mind by renewing your mind you will see wonderful things in your life. God's fellowship with us:" Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel – 'God is with us. (Isaiah 7:14)."Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and he will be called Immanuel (meaning, God is with us)." ( Matthew 1:23).God always want to have fellowship with us, because he loved us so much. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it." John 3:16,17 Christ's fellowship with us :In Philippians 2;5-11 Apostle Paul clearly tells about Jesus Christ is God. Yet he humbled himself and became man. Jesus Christ is the person who dwelt in all the glory of perfection, but he humbled himself and and came to this world. It needs a lot of Humility. The First step needed for a Christian fellowship is humility. Yet this is what he did and it is what we are to do. The very same mind that existed in Jesus Christ that led Christ to give up every thing He was and had is to be in us. Unless we step down and humble our selves to where hurting people are these problems will never be solved. Most people are not in a position to take this up. Apostle Paul urging Philippi believers "Your attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had." (Philippians 2:5). Take the mind of Christ and it flow through your mind. Take all you are and have and get down where the needs really are. Humble yourselves as Christ as Christ did and become the part of solution instead of Problem. Don't miss out the opportunity of an eternity "the glorious privilege of possessing the very mind of Christ itself" The church too often divided, too often rumbling with criticism, murmuring, differences jealousy envy ambition out side talk, negative feelings and desires for position and recognition. The only answer is the declaration of their passage. Letting the humility of Jesus Christ flow in and out of our minds. Fellowship In Spirit: Once a person trusted Jesus Christ as his Lord, God's Spirit does two significant things to him. a) The Holy Spirit enters the believer's heart and life
to comfort, guide, teach, equip and use him as a witness for Christ. The mind of the Holy Spirit setup upon unity and fellowship. All centered around Jesus Christ and his Mission. The church and believers to have the same mind. There are to be no discordant element what so ever in the church. No talk about the differences, no sharing of bad news, no gossip no rumors what would tamper or disturb the fellowship of the Spirit in the Church. Again Quickly glance through the verse "Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one heart and purpose."
