HOW LEADERS LEAD: Exploring The Dynamics of Christian Leadership ABOUT THE BOOK There are many definitions of leadership. Volumes have been written on this topic. In an an effort to guide and encourage church leaders, twelve pastors of large southern Baptist Churches were interviewed to learn their concepts of leadership and examine their leadership style. These conversations, recorded in the pages of this book, give great insight regarding the successful ministries of these pastors. Each was asked to define leadership and to describe his leadership role. They discussed personal strengths and weaknesses, their call to ministry, and their personal motivation. Many questions dealt with ministry staff: communication, accessibility, discipline, accountability, team motivation, and staff freedom. ABOUT THE AUTHOR The author, Dr. Benny Woods, has spent thirty-nine years of his life as a Southern Baptist pastor, and in the past five years, missionary hospital chaplain/consultant. He describes himself as a product of good leadership. Over the years, he has observed good and bad leadership in churches.
