Parents Want
All Medical Rights for their Own Kids. Imagine That!
Hopefully,
we are winning some battles on the front lines of moral combat.
If we lose too many battles, and the liberal government leaders
get their way, we may have to flee to another country, simply
for the right to nourish, love, and protect our own children.
I am happy to report that the US Senate finally passed a bill
in favor of parental rights in control of their own children having
abortions. It is hoped that that this will stop up
the legal loopholes that allow for minor pregnant girls to be
taken across state lines to get an abortion, when the law in their
home state requires that her parents must first be notified or
provide consent. I can get so angry at the thought that such things
legally take place that I could spit blue flame!
This past week, the Senate passed the Child Custody Protection
Act (S. 403) by a vote of 65 to 34, which makes it illegal for
anyone but a parent to transport a girl under 18 from a state
requiring parental notification or consent, to a state that does
not, for the purpose of receiving abortion services.
The bill has already passed the House in a different form, so
now it goes to conference between the House and the Senate to
work out a version which can be approved by both. The President
has made it clear that he supports this action and will quickly
sign it into federal law. He said such a law would stop a dangerous
practice. The President continued by saying, Transporting
minors across state lines to bypass parental-consent laws regarding
abortion undermines state law and jeopardizes the lives of young
women
I appreciate the Senates efforts to preserve
the integrity of state law and protect our nations families.
However, the measure is far from a done deal yet.
There are still many Senators who are working hard to keep the
bill from arriving at the desk of the President, using any odd
procedures that may become available. Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois
objected to the motion to send the bill into conference, insisting
that the bill was premature with too little debate
yet accomplished to work it out. There were several other outrageous
remarks against the bill. Both Barbara Boxer of California and
Hillary Clinton of New York made much vocal opposition over the
measure. Senator Clinton was quoted as saying, This is not
an issue in New York and Were going to sacrifice
a lot of girls lives. Regarding her last statement,
I assume Mrs. Clinton is referring to the fact that some girls
may do fatal damage to themselves by attempting their own abortive
acts. Im sure these kinds of things happen at times, and
I grieve over this fact. However, I wonder if someone could explain
to Senator Clinton how many other human lives are sacrificed because
girls are given opportunities to get abortions!
Recent polls indicate that more than two-thirds of Americans believe
in laws that require parental notification before minors get abortions.
Does that surprise anyone? Any parent that does not believe in
such a law should have his or her head examined! I continue to
marvel over the fact that our national leadership continues to
struggle with ideas that have been hard core common sense for
centuries. Any and all parents who have even foggiest sense of
normal competence and natural God-given parental facility will
want to exercise great thought, care, and love over their precious
daughter when she becomes pregnant. This is true even if
or especially if, that girl is under age and pregnant out of wedlock.
Yes, I will, and I must, concede that because sexual activity
outside of wedlock is immoral, pregnancy in such a situation is
fraught with shame and difficulty. Sexual abstinence until marriage
is not just a moral code taught in the Bible and incorporated
into the Judeo-Christian ethic. Plain common sense demonstrates
that every woman who is to become a mother should have a committed
loving husband who has already performed the public vow in marriage
to be her faithful partner. This is beside the fact that every
precious newborn child needs both mother and father to provide,
love, and nurture him or her in the essence of life. However,
we are slapped in the face with reality. Does every child have
both father and mother? No. Does every young woman wait until
she has that loving husband before she becomes a mother? Again,
sadly, no. Adultery may be a sin; however, whether or not that
has occurred
single parenthood is NOT a sin. It is not as
good as getting into a good marriage, but it is not a sin. No
one can help but respect the young single parent who raises that
child to the best of his or her ability, when a good marriage
could not or did not take place. However, make no mistake. Abortion
is murder. In the very least, parents should have the right to
deal with the life of their unborn grandchild, when their own
child is a minor. But if any provide not for his own, and
specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith,
and is worse than an infidel. (I Timothy 5:8)
