INSIDE INFORMATION

1st John 5:1-13

Introduction:  It is not my intention today to try to give you a false sense of security.  I want to give what the Bible says on this subject of being eternally saved.  In fact, if you would doubt your salvation because of the Word preached today, then you need to make sure you are saved and live as victorious believer should do so.  Don’t let demonic pride keep you from walking the aisle and getting saved today.

Many people go around with many doubts in many areas of his or her life.  This goes over into the spiritual realm.  There are several reasons for these doubts in this area of salvation.

1.  It could be sin in their lives.  Sin makes you feel naked and ashamed when you are in the presence of the Lord.  Sin will take you further than you wanted to go; it will take more than you are willing to give and keep you longer than you were willing to stay.

2. It could be listening to the old accuser.  Satan loves to plant doubts.  It has been his game plan since the Garden. The Accuser planted doubts in the mind of Eve who gave them unto her husband who plunged the entire human race into sin.  If you have doubts

3. It could not knowing or even understanding what the Bible really says about being eternally saved.  There is no real reason for ignorance of what the Bible plainly teaches.  The fault in this area is usually we do not take the time and study the Bible for itself.

4. It could be a major misconception of what salvation really is.   They think it is good works being balanced by the Lord.  Or they think that church membership is salvation. Or taking part in a ritual such as baptism or communion is salvation.  Or having a parent who is a Christian is salvation.  These are major lies from the devil about what salvation really is.

2nd Peter 1:10 says "Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall”

When you clear up these doubts, you will find that you can go further into a closer relationship with the Lord.  If all you have are doubts, doubts and more doubts, then your effectiveness for Christ will not be in place.  All you will be worrying about is whether or not you are saved.  Others will be the farthest thought in your mind.

Verse ten says very plainly “He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself.” In other words, you will have INSIDE INFORMATION. This inside information will show us some things that we have.  I want to give with you five truths that we have in this life as a believer.  We have three witnesses that are in us.  Verse seven tells that we have the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit to give us this inside information.  There may be have been someone that led you to Christ and tell you that you got saved.  But the witness that we have from the Lord is greater.  We see this in verse nine.  Let's look at those five truths that are INSIDE INFORMATION.

    I.  THIS INSIDE INFORMATION SHOWS THAT WE HAVE A NEW INNER NATURE.  2nd Corinthians 5:17

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

                  A. We will have new desires. Ephesians 4:24

“And that ye put on the new man, which after  God is created in righteousness and true     holiness.”

                        1. You will have a love for Christ that you never had.  You will love Him for dying for y     you.  You will love Him for being God.

                                                1st John 5:1-2

“Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.  By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.”

We may not understand all there is about Him being God when we first get saved.  But we start that lifelong journey that is sweet as we learn more about Him and that will not even touch the hem of the garment.  We will have all of eternity to learn about Him.  Jesus will be the sweetest name you know.  When you think about what your life used to be, you will rejoice in the fact that your name is written in the Lamb’s book of life.  But if you have no change in your love for the Lord Jesus, then you better check up.  You most like likely are still in your sins and need to be saved.

                   2. You will have the desire for the Bible.  You  will find that the Bible is real and alive to you for the first time.  David expressed his love for the Book in many places.

                                                Psalm 119:48

“My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I      will meditate in thy statutes.”

                                                Psalm 119:72

“O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.”

                                                Psalm 119:127

“Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold.”

                                                Psalm 119:140

“Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.”

It is as natural as a baby wanting to drink his or her bottle of milk as it is for a new believer to want to read the Word of God.  As I was typing this, I remember the first summer I was saved, I sat under a peach tree in our yard and followed along in my Bible as I hear the Bible being read on records.  I remember that it was the book of Revelation.  I want to know more about the Bible.  That is natural growth and desire and it only comes when you get saved.

If you have no desire for this book, it is very possible that you never got saved.  No other book will bring joy, wisdom, true knowledge and help for the problems of life other than the Bible.

    1. You will have a desire to be with other believers.

                            1st John 3:14

“We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.”

There are no other folks that it is more natural that you want to be a part than the fellow believers are.  That is one of the many reasons why we meet together at church.  Let me give you a few reasons why I need the local church.  I will preach this in an entire message some time but will give these to you today.  I need church because it’s a family reunion.  I need church because it’s a classroom. I need church because it’s a refuge from the world. I need church because it’s like a billboard in that I have a testimony with my family and neighbors that I love the Lord enough to be in His house.  I need church because it’s a memorial service for the One who died in my place and I want to honor Him with my presence. I need church because it’s a victory celebration. I need church because it’s a time to spend with my Heavenly Father.  But if I don’t try to be in the house of God every time I am able, it may be that I have never been saved.

I am afraid I would miss something if I missed church.  Think about whom Thomas missed when he missed assembling himself the other disciples after the resurrection of the Lord Jesus.  He missed the Lord Himself.  What else can we miss when we miss church?  You miss the worship of God.  I know you can worship God is other places other than the church but what better place to worship God than with other believers. You miss the Word of God and the words from God.  You miss the wonderful uplifting of music, fellowship and atmosphere in God's house.  You miss the working of God's Spirit in your life and the lives of others.

                  B. We will have new Director in Life.

                                                Ephesians 2:8-10

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

Many people do not want someone to tell what to do.  But after they get saved, that is exactly what Christ will do.  Where He leads, He feeds.  Where He guides, He provides.  If you are really saved, you will want the Lord Jesus to direct you through life.  Why?  He knows the way through the wilderness and the valleys of life.  He can help in the mountain top times too.

II.  THIS INSIDE INFORMATION SHOWS THAT WE HAVE A NEW INNER SPIRIT.   Romans 8:15,16

“For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God”

                  A. The Holy Spirit reports to us about our  salvation.

                                                Romans 8:9

“But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.”

                                                1st John 3:24

“And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.”

                                                1st John 4:13

“Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.”

Satan plants doubts.  He loves doing that because you are constantly thinking only about yourself.  The Holy Spirit will let you know that you are a child of God.  He will bear witness with you.

                  B. The Holy Spirit reproves about sin in our lives.

                                                Isaiah 59:2

“But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”

Sin is a barrier to fellowship with the Lord.  Sin is the break with friendship with the Lord.  Sin is a blemish to fellowship with the Lord. No better illustration of this is Adam and Eve in the Garden.  When He came to fellowship with them, they hid themselves because of sin had entered into their lives.

III. THIS INSIDE INFORMATION SHOWS THAT WE HAVE A NEW INNER LOVE.    Love is based on truth and real truth is based on the Word of God.

                                                John 17:17

“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”

                  A. We will have a new inner love for the brethren.

                                                1st John 3:14

“We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.”

Many times fellow believers are close to us than our physical family.  It will get around town that those folks down at Freedom Baptist Church really love each other and want to be a blessing to each other.  But this is not a natural love but a supernatural love that came from our Lord when we got saved.  But love like this has to mature and grow as we grow older in the Lord.  Love like this crosses every barrier.  It crosses cultural barriers, sex barriers, race barriers and color barriers.  Only the Lord Jesus can bring a group together and help them love each other as He commanded.

                  B. We will have a new inner love for the Bible

                                                Psalm 119:97

“O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.”

Here are some thoughts I gleaned on this verse of scripture. When we go the way of the Word, we love the Word of God and meditate in it.  When we love something or someone several things are evident.  We can't get enough of that person of thing.  We can't talk enough about that person or thing.  We can't think enough about that person or thing.  When we love the Word of God some of the same truths are noted.  We can't get enough of the Word of God. We can't talk enough about the Word of God.  We can't think enough about the Word of God.

IV. THIS INSIDE INFORMATION SHOWS THAT WE HAVE A NEW INNER ATTITUDE TOWARD SIN. 1st John 3:8

“He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”

I am not saying that you will never sin as a believer.  There is no such creature.  We have the Lord’s word on this in this book.  Turn back a few pages and look with me.

                                  1st John 1:8-2:1

“f we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous”

But I am saying that if you are saved, you will not want sin in your life.  It makes you feel dirt.  If you have no problems with sin in your life, it is a very strong possibility that you have never been saved.  If you can live in constant or commit constant sin without the Holy Spirit convicting you, it may be that you have never been saved.

Sin should alarm us.  We will want to deal with it quickly.  Sin should make us ashamed.  We will not want to continue in it.   Sin will anger us.  We will speak out against it.  Sin will awaken us.  We will hate it with a passion.   If this is not so, then it is possible that you have never been saved.

    V.  THIS INSIDE INFORMATION SHOWS THAT WE HAVE A NEW INNER PEACE.   Romans 5:1

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”

                                                Philippians 4:7

“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds   through Christ Jesus.”

Quickly I want to give you a few thoughts in regards to this peace.  When Jesus saves you, you have the peace with God.  This means that we are reconciled to him, and in a state of favor with him. Faith in Christ makes a great and blessed change in the state, character, condition, enjoyments, and prospects of men.

The peace of God is that peace that comes by putting all in the hands of the one who is able and willing to deliver.  Whenever we fully trust the Lord there comes a peace that is past the understanding of those who have never experienced it.   But also it shall keep your hearts. That peace will be a guard, which will keep the heart and thoughts holy and pure.

             A. We have the Peace that comes from sins forgiven.  Where are my sins now that I am saved? According to the Word of God, they are in the depths of the sea.  They are behind God’s back.  They are as far as the east is from the west.  The Lord forgets them.  They were laid on Christ.  They have been washed away by Christ’s blood. The blood of Christ has blotted them out.

  1. We have the Peace that comes from Sovereign Father.  It comes as part of the fruit of the Spirit.  The fruit of the Spirit gives our variety that spices up our lives for the Lord and His work.

If you don’t have that peace, then it is very possible that you have never been saved.

Conclusion: I have said many times in today’s message that if you don’t have these that it is possible that you have never been saved.  I am not trying to get you walk down the aisle just because I want to brag on conversions.  I am very concern where you are going to spend eternity.  Will you spend eternity in hell because your pride prevents you from getting saved?  Today we are going to give an invitation.  This could be the day of your salvation.
